Sport Trainer

Sport Trainer Course: Combined Program

By signing up for the Sport Trainer Course, you’ll be participating in both the Athletic Injury Management Course (Day 1) and the Sport Taping & Strapping Course (Day 2).

This combined course is ideal for those who want:

  • A complete learning experience
  • A cost-effective option compared to enrolling in the courses separately
  • To build both injury management and taping skills in one weekend

VIEW COURSE DATES

Day 1: Athletic Injury Management Course

This course is designed to enhance both theoretical and practical knowledge for individuals involved in sport and recreation activities. You will learn:

  • Effective strategies for preventing athletic injuries
  • Immediate care techniques for common sports injuries
  • Basic rehabilitation principles to support recovery
  • Essential injury prevention strategies
Day 2: Sport Taping & Strapping Course

This course focuses on equipping you with practical taping techniques for common sports injuries. Key areas covered include:

  • Proper taping procedures
  • Determining when taping is appropriate
  • Comparing taping with bracing
  • Hands-on practice with various taping techniques for different body parts
Prerequisites

The Sport Trainer Course combines the Athletic Injury Management Course (Day 1) and the Sport Taping & Strapping Course (Day 2), both completed over a single weekend. By enrolling in the Sport Trainer Course, you will fulfill all prerequisites required for the individual courses.

Minimum Age Requirement

Participants must be at least 16 years of age to register. Participants under 18 years of age must attend the course with a parent or legal guardian, who is also required to register and attend the course. Additional information can be found in the Course Policies.

Course Participant Benefits

As a course participant, you will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the Sport Medicine Council of Alberta. This membership provides a 20% discount on all sport medicine supplies available in our Online Store. The discount will be applied to your invoice once we receive your online order.

Registration Includes

Registration for the Sport Trainer Course includes a comprehensive set of course materials to support your learning journey. You will receive:

  • Athletic Injury Management Manual
  • Sport Taping & Strapping Manual
  • Sport Taping & Strapping Video Guide USB
  • All Taping Supplies

Upon successful completion of the two-day course, participants will receive an Athletic Injury Management Certificate of Achievement, and a Sport Taping & Strapping Certificate of Achievement. Certificates are mailed via Canada Post Letter Mail, and remain valid for three years.
