CPRSMT Donation Fund

CPRSMT Donation Fund

Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team Donation Fund

The Sport Medicine Council of Alberta (SMCA) and the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team (CPRSMT) have partnered to support athlete health and safety in rodeo and western sport through the establishment of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team Donation Fund.

SMCA & CPRSMT Partnership

Established in 1983, CPRSMT has grown into a team of more than 60 sport medicine practitioners who provide care and support to rodeo athletes. Their work includes pre-event preparation and treatment, on-site injury assessment and acute injury response, concussion recognition and management, injury prevention, post-event care, education, and coordination with other health care professionals.

This work closely aligns with SMCA’s commitment to advancing safe and healthy participation in sport and physical activity. SMCA supports Alberta’s sport community by improving access to practical sport medicine education and resources.

Through this partnership, SMCA can extend that impact by supporting CPRSMT’s work to protect athlete health and safety within rodeo and western sport.

About the Fund

SMCA established the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team Donation Fund to provide a charitable giving opportunity in support of eligible CPRSMT sport medicine activities.

As a registered charity, SMCA receives and administers donations to the Fund and provides grant funding to CPRSMT for approved activities that further SMCA’s charitable purposes. This partnership brings together SMCA’s charitable and educational mandate with CPRSMT’s specialized experience providing sport medicine services within the rodeo environment.

Together, we are helping strengthen access to sport medicine services and resources that support the health and safety of athletes participating in rodeo and western sport.

What Your Donation Can Support

Donations to the Fund help make eligible CPRSMT sport medicine activities possible, including:

  • On-site sport medicine coverage at rodeo and western sport events
  • Injury assessment, acute care, and response
  • Concussion recognition and management initiatives
  • Injury prevention programming and education
  • Medical supplies and equipment
  • Support for qualified sport medicine personnel
  • Training related to athlete health and safety
  • Injury data collection, tracking, and reporting

Your support helps ensure that sport medicine knowledge, resources, and qualified care are available to rodeo athletes before, during, and following competition.

How Your Donation Is Administered

Donations to the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team Donation Fund are made to the Sport Medicine Council of Alberta through CanadaHelps.

SMCA retains 10% of donations to support the administration and operation of the Fund. The remaining 90% is available for grant funding to CPRSMT for approved activities that advance athlete health, injury prevention, and safety in sport.

As the registered charity administering the Fund, SMCA maintains responsibility and discretion over the use and disbursement of donated funds. Donations are eligible for an official charitable tax receipt in accordance with applicable requirements.
